Videos
Recorded in 1920×1080 30fps with an overall bit rate of 16.1 Mb/s. Firmware version 1.0.2.
Final thoughts
I think this 70Mai dashcam is a super budget dashcam below RM200 (US$50) price range with Sony IMX323 sensor.
The video quality is crisp and clear.
I don’t have the chance to try out the voice command yet as if not mistaken have to be in Mandarin. Will test later when have time.

Do u know where i cn finde Firmware version 1.0.2. for it ???
Jeremy Wong · December 24, 2017 at 11:33 pm
I got the firmware from the 70Mai Dashcam app
John · January 26, 2018 at 1:09 am
After updated to version 1.0.3, one of the voice command “Jinji luzhe” not working anymore. The other remaining 5 voice commands still work and voice commands simply lost sensitivity even at high sensitivity setting. In stock firmware 1.0.0, all 6 voice commands worked and more sensitive. You have this issue?
Jeremy Wong · January 26, 2018 at 10:18 am
I’ve only managed to take pictures using the voice command on fw 1.0.2. Others can’t get to work.
Desmond · April 10, 2018 at 10:57 pm
Try ‘woyaoluzhi’ instead of ‘jinjiluzhi’?
Jeremy Wong · April 11, 2018 at 10:04 am
Will try it out. Thanks!
Mike · February 2, 2018 at 9:10 pm
Hi, how can I see the supported command in chinese, so I can try the voice commands with google translate (listen to the command in chinese)? 🙂
Thanks.
Mike · February 2, 2018 at 9:24 pm
Or can I update to a english firmware?
Jeremy Wong · February 5, 2018 at 10:46 am
Hi Mike,
Here’s command in Chinese from the app
http://i63.tinypic.com/fu8idf.jpg
I need to check if there are commands in English in the latest firmware as this dashcam is on Kickstarter.
Mike · February 5, 2018 at 4:28 pm
Hi Jeremy, thanks for the list. Is there any chance to have the list as text? I am asking this because I don’t know chinese and I would need to copy the commands to google translator so it can be spoken in chinese… 🙂
Jeremy Wong · February 6, 2018 at 2:52 pm
Here you go:
take photo – 我要拍照
video recording – 我要录像
voice recording ON – 打开录音
voice recording OFF – 关闭录音
hotspot ON – 打开热点
hotspot OFF – 关闭热点
Mike · February 6, 2018 at 9:53 pm
Hi Jeremy, thanks for the text list. I also found where we can download the firmware for this dash cam, just do not know if we can copy the BIN file to the SD card to downgrade or upgrade the firmware.

I think can as dashcams is updated the same way.
Jeremy Wong · February 16, 2018 at 1:19 am
You can got the bin file to the root of the micro sd and insert it to the 70mai and power on to update the firmware
Rudi · February 13, 2018 at 4:38 pm
Have you already figured out how to upload the English language-software?
Jeremy Wong · February 16, 2018 at 1:21 am
Haven’t found the English firmware for the 70mai yet. Even the latest 1.0.3 firmware don’t have an option for English.
Fran · February 14, 2018 at 5:41 am
Can we change Chinese language to English by changing the firmware ?
radmannsdorf · February 15, 2018 at 3:51 am
I’m interested in upgrading too! 🙂
Fer · February 20, 2018 at 8:36 pm

Jeremy Wong · February 20, 2018 at 9:09 pm
According to here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/70mai-smartest-dash-cam-featuring-voice-control#/
“The current popular 70MAI Dash Cam on the market is Chinese version, do not support English. English version of 70Mai Dash Cam debuts here, better for English speaker using and better specs.”

Is the lithium battery working well under our hot weather? I don’t have the luxury of parking in shades all the time.
Jeremy Wong · March 2, 2018 at 3:38 pm
I think mi will be using high quality lithium batteries. Could last a year or more in our hot weather.
Anyway best to get a capacitor based dashcam to avoid the dashcam from failing.
Mandy · March 3, 2018 at 8:54 am
Thanks. Seems like capacitor based dashcams are at least rm50 more. Can I detach the circular 70mai cam from its fitting easily so that I may keep it when not in use?
Jeremy Wong · March 3, 2018 at 9:19 am
You can as it’s held by a hand screw
Mandy · March 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm
Thank you so much for the wonderful help and informative review.
Liju · July 19, 2018 at 7:21 pm
Dear Jeremy,
Can u recomend a good Capacitor based Dash CAM under 70 or 80 dollars?
Regards,
Liju
Jeremy Wong · July 20, 2018 at 3:11 pm
BlueSkySea B1W is a good budget capacitor dashcam

Do you have any news about changing firmware from chinese to english?
Jeremy Wong · March 15, 2018 at 11:51 am

Danil Kraa · April 13, 2018 at 7:44 pm

Kerem Y. · April 7, 2018 at 10:26 am
Does it have loop recording feature or does user have to empty the memory card manually?
Jeremy Wong · April 7, 2018 at 10:47 am
Yes. Now all dashcam have loop recording and auto overwrite old files first when full.
packard · May 16, 2018 at 10:09 am
how good is this cam for night video recording? don’t have a lot of reviews about the msc8328p.
Jeremy Wong · May 16, 2018 at 1:22 pm
70mai’s night video is considered ok for it’s budget price
julian · May 29, 2018 at 4:30 am

Jeremy Wong · May 29, 2018 at 11:01 am
Not yet. Only got custom firmware with English voice but no English command.

Jeremy Wong · May 31, 2018 at 5:32 pm
Hi Leow. I don’t have an iPhone to test with the 70mai. Are you able to see the videos in the gallery app?
cwsl · May 31, 2018 at 11:48 pm
Just got this cam after read your review, may I know which part of the windscreen is the best for the cam position ?
Thank you.
Jeremy Wong · June 1, 2018 at 12:01 am
Usually center the 70mai’s lens beneath the rear view mirror mount is a good spot
Jason · June 10, 2018 at 12:08 am
Hi there Jeremy,
Does this cam able to record when the car is parked? As in the cam will still continue to record when the car is switch off and not in motion, and act like a security cam for surveillance of theft/incidence?
Jeremy Wong · June 10, 2018 at 12:23 am
You mean parking mode? The 70mai doesn’t have this feature.
Stephan · August 8, 2018 at 6:34 am
But you can also connect the camera directly to the battery.
With a bit of work.
But you need a 12 volt to 5 volt adapter.
Jeremy Wong · August 8, 2018 at 10:56 am
You can also get a hardwire kit which does the same thing 🙂
Teoh · August 11, 2018 at 5:50 pm
I think this more benefit for left hand side drive.
Jeremy Wong · August 11, 2018 at 5:51 pm
Because China is left hand drive 😊
Abhisek · October 8, 2018 at 12:45 pm
goo to hear
emkay · October 30, 2018 at 4:53 pm
Recently I purchased the english version. It said that there is a ADAS feature. Does yours have the same feature? If yours have it, how does the ADAS works? Thanks in advance.
Jeremy Wong · October 30, 2018 at 5:02 pm
The 70mai dashcam doesn’t have ADAS. But the 70mai Pro dashcam does. It requires the GPS mount to work.
GERALD TANG · November 1, 2018 at 6:10 am
Is there anyway I could change the length for the recording?
Jeremy Wong · November 1, 2018 at 9:49 am
Nope. It’s fixed to 1 minute only.
Rotem Rose · November 1, 2018 at 4:14 pm
Hey, Do you know if this camera support Micro SDXC?
Jeremy Wong · November 1, 2018 at 5:39 pm
Yes it does
emkay · November 1, 2018 at 8:57 pm
Mine is an english version. (V 1.0.4). The voice commands (in english) doesn’t work everytime. Sometimes it works on two or three commands and sometimes it doesn’t works at all.
The commands doesn’t tally with the respond but it still works. Eg. ‘Turn off Wifi. but the respond is ‘ Hotspot is off’. So, I’m wondering are there multiple commands for one task?
Jeremy Wong · November 4, 2018 at 7:03 pm
Even the Chinese commands takes a few times. I think its the pronunciation.
Kan MS · November 9, 2018 at 5:36 pm
1. There’s 512MB within the 70Mai. How long will video recording last with this memory on an end-to-end (not considering loop recording)? 2. How long will the 240mAh battery last for video recording? 3. What is meant by a 1-minute recording? 4. Will recording stop if the handphone is not connected to the 70Mai?
Jeremy Wong · November 9, 2018 at 9:24 pm
1. There is no 512mb on the 70mai dashcam. 64mb on the Chinese version and 128mb for the English version. It’s used to store operating systems and other system files only. More info here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/70mai-smartest-dash-cam-featuring-voice-control#/
2. I didn’t try out recording just on the battery alone but I think you can record about 10-15 minutes on the battery alone.
3. The loop recording is fixed at 1 minute video files only. Other dashcams have options for 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes video files.
4. It will record even if not connected to the 70mai app.
